Spiny and the Chain of Events

As you know Spiny is the kind of spider that likes to investigate her surroundings, She loves to ask all sorts of questions.

One evening Spiny was quietly eating her dinner at the table when Brian sneezed and accidentally knocked his glass of fresh beetle squash all over Grandads dinner. Grandad leapt up from the table and accidentally knocked his glass of fresh frog syrup all over Grandma, then Grandma screamed and dad dropped his glass of frog syrup on the floor, mom was walking past the table and slipped in the Frog syrup dropping her dinner all over Dad. "What a chain of events" said Dad wiping moms dinner off his head. Spiny wondered what a chain of events was but decided that she should ask later when everyone had cleaned up the mess.

Later on just before her bedtime story, Spiny decided that it was time to ask about what Dad had said earlier. Spiny decided to ask Grandad as he was a wise spider. Grandad said that a chain of events was a group of things that were caused or started by one thing. Spiny was not quite sure that she understood fully, but it was late so she went to bed.

The next day Spiny was outside collecting wood with Brian and talking about what Dad had said. Brian said that a chain of events was when things happened in order, one after the other. Spiny was still a little confused about it so she thought she would ask Dad after dinner. Dad said that he would do his best to explain. When Brian sneezed he knocked over his drink, and his drink went over Grandads dinner, this surprised Grandad so he jumped up out of his chair and knocked his drink all over Grandma. Grandma then screamed and frightened me so much that I dropped my drink on the floor. Then your Mom slipped over in the Frog syrup and dropped her dinner all over me. Now none of this would have happened if Brian had not sneezed, so the chain of events was started by Brian.

Spiny was pleased that she had asked dad and she gave him a big hug. Dad said that if she ever had trouble understanding something she should keep asking until she was absolutely sure she understood completely, and that it did not matter how long it took her to work it out. When Grandma read Spiny her bedtime story she said that Dad was a very wise spider but that he could sometimes be a big pest, Spiny laughed and so did Grandma.
